Sitecore 9 New features and flexibilities

Sitecore 9 introduces many new features and delivers a 360 degree customer view. There is a lot to love in this new version. Everyone is going to have their favourite new features, but, I wanted to share with you some of the mines. Here you go.

Sitecore Cortex – Machine Learning (AI)

Marketers not only benefit from a rich, holistic customer view, but can now act on intelligent insights to generate omnichannel experiences that are highly personalised for each individual.
The launch of Cortex at Sitecore 9.0 was met with a bit of awe and wonder by both technical and marketing folk. Cortex is the new Machine Learning platform built into Sitecore 9.0 and, from a first glance, it looks incredibly powerful. Under Cortex not only will the platform be able to suggest A/B Testing opportunities, it will also be able to actively manage personalization for you, tracking engagement across a range of dynamic parameters (goals, engagement value and profile matches, for example) and then automatically swap content and calls to action for you.
The Sitecore team has taken numerous steps to minimize work by frontend devs, to give marketing teams more control over the platform. The update allows users with little Sitecore or .NET experience to deliver exceptional experiences, efficiently.
Sitecore Commerce – fully integrated with modules
Sitecore 9 is the first fully integrated version of Sitecore’s already brilliant and comprehensive commerce solution. What does this mean? Well, it means that all Commerce functionality is now integrated into the CMS including Product, Catalogue and Inventory management, Pricing and Promotions, Customers and Prospects and Order Management. Unlike in previous versions of Commerce Server, this means no more desktop apps!
This is great news for marketers and merchandisers who can now change the layout and emphasis of their product pages and listing pages based on a user’s audience profile (aka persona, i.e. behaviour), interactions and engagement to date.
Sitecore xConnect
xConnect is the new data API layer for xDB, the experience database that drives many of Sitecore’s marketing and personalisation features. For the first time, developers can integrate directly with xDB, adding to and working with all the rich profile and analytics data that Sitecore collects about your customers.
xConnect allows marketers to understand exactly what the customer or prospect has been doing. Golden information that supports marketer to tailor comms to delight targets.
Sitecore 9 Forms UI
Sitecore Forms (a new product to replace basic web forms) has been completely redesigned for today’s marketers with a drag and drop UI to create forms and new features to ensure that more quality customer data can be captured and acted upon with ease. The analytics and reporting capabilities of the Sitecore Forms application enable marketers to evaluate the effectiveness of their forms instantly.
Marketing Automation
The new Marketing Automation tools allow CMS users to quickly drag and drop engagement plans together, building out complete workflows with automation triggers based on any combination of goals triggered, time passes, emails responded to, or not, and engagement points scored.
You can determine when to move contacts into a specific campaign based on rules or particular actions that they take.  For instance, once they complete a certain goal, or reach a certain order count in the e-commerce module.
All of this controlled by a very easy to use and intuitive interface.
PaaS, The Cloud and new Licensing Subscription Models (Platform as a Service)
Sitecore has been offered as an ‘on-premise’ platform, with a licensing model based on upfront cost to match. Under Sitecore 9.0 and the new Subscription Model, you can now buy licenses and hosting on a cloud consumption model.
